Lotus Garden with Young Sang Cho
Lotus Garden is an interactive, kinetic installation that is activated by viewer participation. By detecting the distance between the viewer and the piece, the flower of Lotus Garden reacts by moving its leaves.

This project is about the relationship between people and people. There should be a certain distance to maintain a good relationship sometimes. When there is no one around, the flower makes a movement of leaves opening and closing repeatedly at a slow speed. When the viewer gets closer to the flower, the movement of leaves is more defined. The flower makes the same motion as they did when there is no one around, but more slower. Also all the leaves stay still for a little while when the flower is opened completely - in full bloom-. Thus the viewer sees the video clips installed inside the flower which represent the peaceful moments in our lives. However, if the viewer moves too close or touches the flower, the flower closes all the leaves fast and stops its moving.
